Before going on a business trip it is beneficial to ensure that your passport is valid. Some countries require that your passport is valid for 180 days after entry. Visa and/or insurance certificates are required for entry into a few specific countries. If you travel to a country that requires visa make sure you apply well in advance. We always recommend that you check the current travel restrictions for your destination. In Finland, you may check current travel restrictions on the webpage for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Please ask for a travel insurance card from your employer. The card includes your company name, policy number and contact information of our travel assistance partner. You will need your policy number, for example when you file a claim to If or when you are in contact with the assistance partner.
You may also download a travel insurance card directly to your smartphone. Ask your employer or download it by filling in this form (in Finnish).

Your employer may have activated your access to see your insurances at our digital log-in service Employee Pages. Employee pages is a digital service for you who have insurance through your employer. Check with your employer to get it activated.
You should consider the safety of your journey regarding your state of health in relation to the length, distance and nature of your journey and the destination where you are travelling to. If you have an existing illness prior to the journey and it acutely and unexpectedly deteriorates during your journey and you need medical treatment in a hospital, please contact our assistance partner for further assistance. The assistance partner will guide you to a suitable facility and check if the treatment is covered by your insurance.
We recommend contacting our assistance partners. The standard of the hospitals/clinics can vary between countries and our assistance partners will help you find the best preferred clinic in their quality controlled network. They can also, in most situations, place a guarantee of payment. and monitor your treatment.

We advise you to check the recommendations set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland to get information about your destination country. Follow also for you employer's travel guidelines.
Travelling to war risk areas
Please contact your employer before travelling to risk areas to make sure your insurance cover is eligible. The war risk areas are not covered in general but can be covered with an optional insurance coverage that your employer can select. The risk areas defined by If are listed here.
The insurance covers Covid-19 testing for persons with symptoms compatible with the infection as a part of the medical treatment of a travel illness. The insurance does however not cover costs for any medical certificates (or tests to acquire a certificate), doctor statements or alike.
Remember to apply for the general visa application for China and USA before you travel. Make sure you have the contact information to our assistance partner.
China
You will need a visa. You will have to fill out an application and give your fingerprint. Also you need an invitation from the company you are going to visit in China with specified information such as name, passport number, dates. Read more on Visumservice.fi
USA
You should apply for "ESTA" if you are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program Country. Your travel needs to be 90 days or less. Read more about the requirements on the Official website of the Department of Homeland Security and apply for your ESTA on the Homeland Security Esta page.
